Developed by Gaz-Willys in response to a request from the officers of the UCASGS, the Wanderer is based on the widely successful Nomad chassis. Employing a more robust eight cylinder turbo-diesel equipped with a remote snorkel system along the left hand side of the cab allowing a limited amphibious capability. Gaz also included a UHF radio with power amp, linked to a laptop computer with a 40 sq cm flatscreen display. The Wanderer is well equipped for long duration survey trips, and has received nothing but high marks from the Geological Survey officers lucky enough to be assigned one.
