The first of S-K Aerospace's advanced security drones to see production, the TIER II is a member of the new breed of multipurpose vehicles. Designed to fill the surveillance and light interdiction role, the TIER II features a nearly flat, well rounded lifting body mounting a high-aspect ratio composite wing. These features, coupled with its extremely efficient unducted fan engine gives it a loiter time of four to six hours depending on mission load and weather. S-K made wide use of fiber reinforced composite construction, adding to the drone's already stealthy aspect with passive thermal masking and radar damping materials. Coupled to this passive defensive suite is an array of active electronic countermeasures, including a powerful ECCM system capable of cutting through the EM clutter of urban combat zones, and an advanced ED system designed to conceal the TIER II inside that same clutter. The sensor suite is mounted low beneath the nose, giving it a 360 degree view of the terrain below the drone. The internal weapon bay, standard on production models, is configured to mount a single rifle-size weapon of up to 14mm caliber. The weapon mount is declined at a permanent 27 degrees, which requires the entire aircraft to be maneuvered when targeting. Despite this limitation, early field trials of the design received positive reports since the single fixed mounting keeps the weight of the drone down, and streamlines maintanence. For an extra 22,000 nuyen S-K will include a modified Walther MA2100 installation, complete with a 200 round dedicated ammunition storage space. In response to early customer recommendations, S-K is equipping all its flight III drones with a CoreSo transceiver, their version of the popular Battletach FDDM. The ability to integrate the TIER II fully into any existing security system now gives Corp Sec forces an unparalleled flexibility when dealing with hostile incursions.
