History

“Well isn’t this peachy. Three degrees to my name, half a dozen articles in the NEJM, respected staff member of one of Bellvue’s most prestigious hospitals, and how do I travel? In a false compartment in the trunk of a Land Rover.” Taylor sighed.
“Oh how the mighty have fallen,” smirked Riis. Taylor kicked the back of her friend’s seat in frustration.
“Don’t start with me. I knew it was a mistake to begin with, I just never thought that the repercussions of the experiments coming to light would be so wide ranging.”
“People get sentimental about using harvested fetal tissue in experiments.” Riis shrugged.
“But the fetuses were unwanted! They were all aborted. It wasn’t as if we were going out and snatching babies from wombs! And the promise the strains showed! They regularly exceeded our theoretical results by twenty percent!” Taylor pounded her fist against the floorboard.
“Hey, keep it down back there! Anyway, I don’t think the UCAS Medical Board is interested in theoretical results in the face of such overwhelming public criticism.” Riis checked her rearview mirror.
“They will be. I wouldn’t be surprised if my research was being cannabalized as we speak. Stevenson would be all over it, that rat.” Taylor sighed, chewing on a fingernail.
“My aren’t we the huffy one. Hang on, we’re coming to another check point.”
“Super. Great. Fine.”

Quotes:
“What did you do to it? It was working fine when you left yesterday!”
“What happened? Wait, I don’t want to know.”
“Don’t worry, this won’t hurt at all.”
“Quit crying, you big baby.”
