Ishiyumi Light Infantry Support Drone

Ishiyumi Light Infantry Support Drone

Responding to request for an upgrade to their Mk I drone weapon carrier, VOR Robotics has developed the Ishiyumi tracked chassis. With a wide suspension base as well as a large track footprint, the Ishiyumi is capable of traversing the most treacherous of ground. And, with VOR's patented Salamander(tm) system, the drone is even capable of limited amphibious movement. The standard weapon mount is MCT's M280 80mm autoloading mortar system, developed specifically for the light mechanized divisions of the Imperial Japanese Marines. M280 is a robust, battle-tested design perfect for the light support role. A large onboard ammunition capacity supplements the drone's onboard weapon expert program. An individual soldier is capable of creating up to fifteen different fire missions and executing each at a single command. The weapon expert system can select ordnance based on the original fire mission or in response to spotter inputs. The true value of this drone is only realized when it is incorporated as part of a larger BattleTac FDDM network. VOR is considering offering two of its Tsumi reconaissance/spotter drones in conjunction with an Ishiyumi as part of a complete fire support package.

The Ishiyumi is equipped with an 80mm autoloading mortar system capable of firing a single round per complex action. The drone is equipped with a series of baseplate jacks designed to stabilize it during firing operations. The jacks require six seconds in order to deploy and three seconds in order to retract to allow the drone to traverse firing positions. The mortar is fixed at fifty degrees of azimuth with only a plus/minus five degree freedom of motion. While this poses no difficulty for guided rounds, it requires an additional three seconds of prep time for each non-guided round fired. The drone must defuel each non-guided round in order to accurately place the munition on target. The 80mm autoloading mortar has a muzzle velocity of 242 m/s and a projectile weight of 5 kg.
