MiL Mi-35M Hind

MiL Mi-35M Hind

Initially fielded in limited numbers to supplement conventional Soviet helicopter close air support forces before the Mi-28 could become fully operational, the Mi-35 became a mainstay of the Soviet Air Cavalry forces. Based on the widely successful Mi-24 Hind chassis, the Mi-35 features upgraded all weather capabilities including all glass night-vision compatible cockpits, FLIR, INS, and GPS. Additionally, the powerplants have been upgraded to the improved Klimov TV3-121VMA turboshafts, rated at 2194 shp each. The Mi-35 retains all the features which made the Hind a workhorse of the Soviet military: steel laminate armor, bulletproof glass windscreens, retractable landing gear with low-pressure tires for operations from unimproved fields, and a cargo area capable of holding up to eight fully equipped troops or two stretcher casualties and two medical personnel. Armament wise, the Mi-35 mounts a single autocannon in a remote undernose turret, while the aft mounted weapon wings have two ordinance stations apiece, each capable of carrying up to 300kg of stores. There has never been a more devastating combination of firepower, armor, and maneuverability.
