Based on the widely successful H-60 Blackhawk chassis, the MH-60K has received multiple SOF (Special Operations Forces) mission-specific upgrades. Each pilot has a pair of NVG-compaitble full color flat panel displays, customizable based on individual user profiles, and backed up by a full center suite of analog instruments. Onboard GPS and INS positional data are fed into 3-D topographical map overlays in order to provide the most accurate picture of the aircraft and the terrain surrounding it. The navigation system is fully Link-16 compatible as well, capable of integrating sensor data from any other Link platform within line of sight range. The twin GE TF700-401D engines are equipped with passive IR suppressors which mix ambient ram air with the hot exhaust in order to decrease the thermal signature of the aircraft. The rotor systems are honeycomb composite reinforced with titanium skin and are ballistically tolerant up to 14mm anti-aircraft fire. While not primarily a gunship, the MH-60K is capable of carrying an offensive weapon load in addition to its troops. Each side door mounts a 7.62mm M134 mini-gun while each weapon wing is rated to 300kg of unguided or precision munitions.
